What is the core loop?
Steal An Egg is a six-step cycle: steal an egg, hatch it, earn money from the pet, upgrade your base and treadmill, train Speed, and find rarer traits. Speed is the stat that gates everything — it decides which biomes you can enter and whether you outrun the guardian on the way home. Money buys Speed, Speed unlocks better eggs, better eggs make more money.
What should I do in the first five minutes?
Claim the Free Gift before anything else. Liking and favoriting the game and joining the and Collect Rare Pets group unlocks a reward of 10,000 Speed, enough to walk straight into the Lake (900) and Desert (10K). Then steal a few Forest eggs, hatch them, and spend your first $1,000 on the garden upgrade to unlock the treadmill.
How do I steal my first egg?
Walk into the Forest, pick an egg from a nest, and run straight back to your base. The Forest guardian (a Chicken) is slow, so this is the place to learn the route. Once the egg is in your incubator it hatches into a pet automatically. Escape habits for faster guardians are covered in the stealing guide.
How do pets make money?
Every pet in your Pen earns a set amount per second, added to your cash automatically while you are in the server. Use Equip Best in the pet menu to auto-fill your slots with your highest earners. Upgrading the Pen raises the number of active slots, so it is usually the first upgrade after the treadmill. A full list of values is on the all pets page.
What should I upgrade first?
- Garden ($1,000) — unlocks the treadmill.
- Pen level — more active pets, more income.
- Treadmill upgrades — more Speed per second while training, works AFK.
- Trails — direct Speed multipliers from the Trail Shop, the best value per dollar mid-game.
Speed ordering and costs are broken down in the speed guide.
When should I move to the next biome?
When you have roughly double the next zone’s Speed requirement. Reaching the exact minimum lets you in, but heavy eggs and fast guardians will catch you. With the free 10,000 Speed you can farm Lake immediately and Desert comfortably; Jungle at 40K is the first gate that takes real treadmill time.
How do I protect my income from other players?
Other players can steal an egg from you while you are carrying it, so bank eggs immediately and avoid detours. Keep a bear trap in your inventory to slow chasers. Duplicate pets you do not need can go into the Fuse Machine for a stronger single pet — the rules are in the fuse machine guide.
What is the pet index?
The index tracks every pet type you have hatched and pays out free rewards for new discoveries. Some pets are limited-time, so an event pet you miss leaves a permanent gap. Prioritise hatching at least one of every event egg while it is available.
