FAQ

How much do base upgrades cost in Steal An Egg?
The community price ladder runs $1K, $1M, $75M, $500M, $1B, $50B, $500B, $1T, $25T, $100T and $500T for levels 1 to 11. Slots go from 7 at the start to 18 at level 11. Check the in-game price before buying — patches can change it.
What income should I enter for a new slot?
The $/s of the pet that would go into it, which is usually your best benched pet. The Pen slot optimizer shows that number as "next slot adds".
Does payback include offline time?
No. It counts time in a server at your full rate. Pets keep earning offline, but at a much lower, unpublished rate, so real payback on days with long breaks is a little slower than shown.
Why does base level 1 show no payback?
Level 1 ($1K) adds no equip slot — it unlocks the treadmill. It is still the first thing to buy, because Speed opens better biomes.

Is this upgrade worth buying now?

Pick a base level from the list — the cost and the number of new slots fill in automatically — or choose Custom upgrade for anything else with a price and a $/s gain. Add your current income and, if you like, the coins you already have.

What is the formula?

time to afford = (cost − coins now) ÷ income now
income gained = new slots × $/s of the pet in each new slot (base levels)
payback = cost ÷ income gained
until profit = time to afford + payback

All times are in-server play time. The verdict calls an upgrade a strong buy when it pays for itself faster than it takes to save for it.

When is a new slot not worth it?

A slot only earns what you put in it. If your best benched pet is weak, the payback is slow, and the same money may do more elsewhere:

  • Trails and treadmill. Speed opens a better biome, and one pet from the next zone can out-earn a whole extra slot. Compare with the Speed planner.
  • A better pet for an existing slot. Check the cut line in the Pen slot optimizer first.
  • Fusing. Three duplicates fused into one frees two slots for free — see the fuse calculator.

How do I get the numbers?

Read income now from your total in game, or add up your Pen in the income calculator. The pet for the new slot is the highest earner that is not equipped. If you are thinking about Robux instead of grinding, the gamepass calculator shows how much X2 Money shortens the same wait.
